The PERFECT Program is taking marine science graduate students out of their labs and into K-12 classrooms. Last year, nine VIMS students taught in local schools and developed their science communication skills in the process. This fall, a new cohort of scientists-in-training is poised to enter the program.
Five graduate students have been named Collaborative Fisheries Research Graduate Fellows for the 2010–2011 school year. This new fellowship provides an academic year of funding for research projects that involve members of the fishing industry and aim to develop new fishing gear or conservation equipment.
