Sharing New Ways to Improve Modeling in Fisheries Management

New techniques to improve the accuracy of fishery-independent survey indices could prove very useful in preparing fisheries data for stock assessments. However, a major challenge to implementing up-to-date technology and practices is the need to synthesize existing scientific literature on current standards. Mary Fabrizio of Virginia Institute of Marine Science will work to identify, compile and synthesize existing case studies about fishery-independent surveys and prepare a manuscript for publication. The manuscript should allow scientists unfamiliar with the best techniques to quickly find ways to improve the accuracy of fisheries survey data.
