DJ Haskin, a former Virginia Sea Grant (VASG) office aide, is taking on new responsibilities this summer as VASG’s communications research intern. In his new role, DJ will be conducting research that VASG educators will use to improve the design and functionality of The Bridge, a teacher portal for ocean and marine science classroom resources. DJ is excited for the challenge of his new position.

“I like my expanding role,” DJ said. “It gives me a chance to focus on more things I’m interested in—like community outreach and environmental policy—while still learning about Virginia Sea Grant and its programs.”

Originally from Stafford, VA, DJ will graduate from The College of William and Mary in 2015 with degrees in English and environmental policy. On campus, he plays on the club Frisbee team and is involved with Students for St. Jude. He is considering applying to law school to pursue a career in natural resource management or environmental law.
