On January 21, 2016, Virginia Sea Grant Graduate Research Fellow Yonqian Yang of Virginia Tech was challenged to tell an audience of non-scientists about his research. Yang’s presentation discussed how vegetation in living shorelines reduces wave energy hitting the shore—better than some rocky sills.
