Hurricane Irene could delay, but not cancel, the fourth annual Virginia Charter Boat Association’s Youth Fishing Adventure in Hampton. Despite the weather delay, more than 120 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and members of the local Boys and Girls Club, as well as many volunteers, and even Congressman Wittman attended.

The Youth Fishing Adventure gives young people the opportunity to fish with some of Virginia’s charter boat captains, nearly 30 of whom donated their time and vessels to make the event possible.

The event was sponsored by Virginia Charter Boat Association, Salt Water Recreational Fishing Development Fund (VMRC), City of Hampton, Downtown Hampton Development Partnership, Hampton City Docs, and VIMS, as well as Crowne Plaza, Hampton Marina Hotel, Greensprings Vacation Resort, VIrginia Company Bank, Chesapeake Marine Training Institute, and Kingsmill Sports Club.
