“I’ve always wanted to explore marine science,” says Claire Rosier, a student at William & Mary, “but working in psychology, it’s kind of like, how in the world am I going to cross over?”

This spring, Rosier joined Virginia Sea Grant as an office aide, getting the chance to dip her toes into the world of marine science.

“I’m gaining a lot of experience just being around the different projects that Sea Grant works on,” says Rosier. “It’s awesome.”

Rosier works on a variety of projects in the Sea Grant office, from editing video footage to research to transcribing audio recordings of meetings about shellfish.

“I help with the leg work,” says Rosier with a big smile. “I’m just here to help.”

Rosier just completed her freshman year at William & Mary. She plans to major in psychology and double major in English, kinesiology, or business. She also serves as a peer advisor on campus and is part of the American Sign Language Club.
