Commonwealth Coastal & Marine Policy Fellowship

commonwealth-fellowship-announcement

Virginia Sea Grant (VASG) is now soliciting applications for the inaugural 2017 Commonwealth Coastal & Marine Policy Fellowship. Modeled after the highly successful national Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, this 12-month paid fellowship is intended to provide educational and professional development opportunities for post-graduates interested in Virginia’s coastal and marine resources. Fellows will receive on-the-job training by working with a Virginia host agency to address pressing coastal and marine resource issues, while learning about the policy and management process occurring at the state level. The full fellowship announcement and additional information can be found here.

The Commonwealth Coastal & Marine Policy Fellowship is sponsored by VASG, Virginia Environmental Endowment (VEE), Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), and the three host agencies, the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (VADCR), Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VADEQ), and Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC).

Fellowship applications will be accepted until 5:00pm EST on January 23, 2017.

VASG anticipates supporting up to three post-graduate fellows starting June 2017, depending on the needs of the fellow and host office. Selected finalists for the fellowship will interview with VASG and the host state agencies to find the best fit for the fellow.

Virginia Sea Grant encourages interested applicants to contact Virginia Sea Grant’s Fellowship and Research Program Coordinator Sam Lake at sjlake@vims.edu.
