Chelsea Carter joined Virginia Sea Grant (VASG) as this summer’s photography intern. Her responsibilities include taking photos of VASG events and research and processing and editing photos. Getting the best shot means Chelsea may have to go into the field with researchers. She is excited by the opportunity.
“I like not knowing what I might be doing each day. It keeps life interesting and tests my skills as a photographer,” Chelsea said. “It’s exciting to have the opportunity to follow scientists, go to events, and see beautiful places.”
Originally from Williamsburg, VA, Chelsea attends Thomas Nelson Community College. She expects to graduate in 2015 with an associate’s degree in applied science with a focus in photography. Chelsea recently moved to Gloucester, VA, where she and her husband purchased their first home. After graduation, she plans to build her portfolio before looking for work with a photography business or starting her own company. She feels that her internship with VASG will provide her with valuable work experience.
“This internship allows me to dabble in many aspects of photography,” Chelsea says. “As a student I am lucky to get the opportunity to feel out what will become my passion.”
