DJ Haskin joined Virginia Sea Grant (VASG) as an office aide this summer. Since then, he’s helped coordinate travel, support meeting planning, and manage the VASG office. This fall semester, DJ is contributing to research that will help VASG launch a brand realignment next year.

DJ is studying English and environmental science and will graduate from the College of William and Mary in 2015, after which he plans to work with Teach for America or AmeriCorps. “This is a great chance to learn about how an organization like Sea Grant works,” he says. “I’m interested in going into environmental policy or law, so being here will be a great opportunity to get first-hand experience.”

VASG office location on the York River has other benefits too. “Being right by the water is fantastic,” he says. “I can’t think of a cooler place to spend the summer.”
