The Middle Peninsula Chesapeake Bay Public Access Authority and Virginia Commonwealth University will hold a public meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, at the Lands End Subdivision /Captain Sinclair’s Recreational Area located at 9524 Whittaker Drive, Gloucester, VA, 23061. This meeting is part of a collaboration between Virginia Sea Grant and the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission.
The purpose of this meeting will be to listen to community interests, and to hear concerns or suggestions about the site and how it could best be utilized on the waterfront of the Severn River. It will also be an opportunity to see a broader perspective of how the use of the site will fit into the fabric of the larger community.
The outcomes that we hope to gain from conducting the meeting will be dependent on the level of citizen participation. Citizen input from the initial meeting will help to identify and develop any alternatives concepts for the site.
Community surveys will be distributed to all who are not able to attend the meeting. The community interest surveys will provide us with valuable insight about the community’s role and support for various concepts. This will give our team a quick and effective way to engage as many people as possible, in combination with interactions and overall attitude gauged from the community meeting.
