A picture is worth a thousand words, and the Virginia Coastal Policy Clinic (VCPC) at William & Mary Law School wants to see what coastal photographers have to say about sea level rise and recurrent flooding.
The VCPC is running a photo contest to find photos to feature as the cover photo on the VCPC Facebook and the banner image on the VCPC blog. The photo should exemplify the issues covered by the VCPC, such as sea level rise and recurrent flooding. Posting a photo to the VCPC Facebook wall qualifies it as an entry in the contest. The deadline for photo submissions is Friday, November 14, 2014. Please refer to the Facebook page for more details.
The winning photographer will be announced at the Adaptive Planning for Flooding and Coastal Change in Virginia Conference on December 5, 2014 at William & Mary. Hosted by the VCPC, the conference is a forum to facilitate dialogue on the legal and policy challenges involved in adaptation actions in response to climate change and coastal flooding, to discuss progress that has been made in responding to these issues, and to identify priorities for future planning. The Governor’s Climate Change and Resiliency Update Commission will also hold its next meeting at the conference. The public is welcome, but registration is required. Register for the conference here.
The VCPC develops science-based legal and policy analysis of ecological issues affecting the state’s coastal resources, and advises Virginia’s decision-makers, from government and military officials to legal scholars and nonprofit and business leaders, on the best approaches to resolve coastal resource management issues.
Virginia Sea Grant is a proud supporter and partner of VCPC.
