New associate director joins Virginia Sea Grant
We would like to welcome Scott Sandridge to Virginia Sea Grant (VASG). As a part of the VASG leadership team, Sandridge will assist the director in all aspects of planning, management, and administration of the program, including the fellowship portfolio, program evaluation, national reporting activities, strategic planning, and development of new initiatives.
“I believe in what Sea Grant does, and I find it very exciting,” Sandridge says. “I have a lot of respect for what Troy has done already, and I think there’s still a lot to do, and I want to be part of it.”
Sandridge brings with him 20 years of experience in the Virginia Department of Planning and Budget, where he spent the past 14 years as the higher education budget and policy specialist. Formerly, he served as a Medicaid budget analyst and a budget analyst for the Naval Sea Systems Command. He earned both his M.A. in Public Administration and B.A. in American Government from the University of Virginia.
“We are so excited to have Scott on board at VASG. His skills in operational management and leadership, university relations, and financial management will have a lasting impact on the growth and development of VASG,” says Director of Virginia Sea Grant Troy Hartley. “I worked with Scott for many years in his capacity at the Department of Planning and Budget and I know Scott as a professional of great integrity, work ethic, and commitment.”
